Meals On Wheels Tampa: Holiday Gift Bag Program

Meals on Wheels of Tampa Bay is a local charity whose mission is to nourish, enrich and strengthen the lives of homebound and senior community members. They accomplish this with the help of friendly volunteers who regularly deliver hot meals. During the holidays, Meals on Wheels goes above and beyond to make their senior community members feel loved and provided for.

During the Christmas Season, Meals on Wheels hosts a Holiday Gift Bag program, personally delivering special holiday bags to over 800 elderly, homebound or disabled community members. This is their way of showing their senior neighbors that they are thought of and cared for beyond their daily food requirements.

Meals on Wheels understands that human contact nourishes the soul and is just as important to happiness as a healthy meal. With no local family or close friends, the Holiday Gift Bag program is the only holiday celebration many elderly community members get to experience. Meals on Wheels and their collective of volunteers take extra steps to make sure their elderly neighbors’ Christmas is as special as everyone else’s.

Each holiday bag contains a variety of items, including games, books, toiletries, calendars, ornaments, snacks, juices and a special gift. The bags are made possible through Tampa Bay community member donations.

Meals on Wheels is accepting donations now through December 13 at their Tampa office: 550 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, FL 33603. Holiday bags will be delivered on December 21. Volunteers are needed to help sort, count and pack items during the week of December 16. Call Meals on Wheels at 813-238-8410 to sign up!

Epic Specialty Staffing is celebrating the Season of Giving! We ask that everyone in the Tampa Bay area please stop by the Meals on Wheels office and donate what they can, even just their time, to help enrich the lives of their homebound neighbors this holiday season. Thank you, and Happy Holidays!
