Epic Specialty Staffing Supports Cancer Awareness in September
September marks an important time of year for cancer awareness. The month is full of special events and fundraising initiatives to fight several different types of cancer, and Epic Specialty Staffing is proud to be a dedicated partner. Awareness is the first piece of the puzzle—the other is finding meaningful ways to support these causes. We’ve rounded up some simple ways to do just that.
Blood Cancer Awareness Month
Blood cancer can take many forms, including lymphoma, leukemia, myeloma, and Hodgkin’s disease. The Lymphoma Research Foundation ramps up its awareness efforts during the month of September, both locally and nationally. The Light it Red campaign is one of its biggest awareness projects. You might notice people showing their support by wearing red. Landmarks and buildings across the globe will be lit up red at different times throughout the month.
You can also participate while doing your regular shopping. By opting for Amazon Smile and choosing the Lymphoma Research Foundation, you’ll be directly contributing to the fight against blood cancer. For your next video call, you can also add a custom Light it Red background to your profile to spread the message at work.
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
We can all agree that taking care of our children is the most important thing. That’s why Epic Specialty Staffing is committed to supporting Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. If you feel the same way, CURE Childhood Cancer is a great place to show you care. This organization uses donations from everyday people to invest over $4.7 million each year to pediatric cancer research. Beyond that, CURE continually supports families who are dealing with childhood cancer by providing meals, financial assistance, and counseling.
This is all to say that your donations really do go a long way in making a positive impact for patients and their families. During the month of September, take it a step further by creating a Facebook CURE fundraiser or participating in a CURE coin drive.
National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
When it comes to cancer awareness, spreading the word about early detection is key. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) works hard to prevent and cure ovarian cancer—and improve the quality of life of those who are living with it. It’s life-saving work, especially since the five-year survival rate when diagnosed and treated early is 93%.
During September, you can check out your local NOCC chapter to get involved. The organization has lots of opportunities for those interested in volunteering. This includes giving your time to NOCC events or participating in a run, walk, bike, or hike event. At Epic Specialty Staffing, we celebrate all the different ways to make a positive difference.
National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
The Prostate Cancer Foundation is devoted to cancer awareness all year round. In September, the organization increases its efforts through community events and opportunities. This includes their #EatItToBeatIt campaign, which begins September 1. The initiative is based on the fact that 30% of cancer is preventable with the right lifestyle choices. It challenges folks to increase cancer awareness by eating 30 healthy foods in 30 days.
Want to get involved in other ways? You can also participate in a local 5K or 10K, set up a Prostate Cancer Foundation fundraising page, or honor a loved one by sending a personalized eCard. No matter how you take action, the idea is to show your support in ending prostate cancer.
As a healthcare recruitment agency that specializes in radiation oncology, the Epic Specialty Staffing team is personally invested in raising cancer awareness. Will you join us?
