Epic Specialty Staffing Supports Cancer Awareness in the Month of September
During the month of September, there are several nationally recognized dates observing cancer awareness. As a dedicated partner in the fight against the disease, here are some of the observances that we at Epic Specialty Staffing want to shine a light on.
Blood Cancer Awareness Month
Did you know that every 3 minutes, someone in the US is diagnosed with blood cancer?
The goal of Blood Cancer Awareness Month is to raise awareness about the 1.3 million Americans living with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin’s disease.
The good news is that the fight to beat cancer starts in your backyard. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) has chapters all over the United States that are already doing so much to raise awareness and to continue improving treatments for LLS. For more information on how you can help, visit the Leukemia and Lymphoma website.
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Cancer remains the number one cause of death for children under the age of 14. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is dedicated to underlining the reality of childhood cancer while emphasizing the importance of research in this field. Organizations such as CURE invest millions of dollars for critical research in safer and more effective treatments for children. The mission is to conquer childhood cancer through funding targeted research while supporting patients and their families. To find out how you can help or donate, visit the Childhood Cancer Awareness website.
National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
Early detection, education, and access to healthcare are three factors that drive National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s (NOCC) campaign is focused on early awareness of symptoms, including family history and genetic predisposition as critical tenets for fighting this form of cancer.
To support the NOCC’s efforts to help thousands of women each year, visit the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition website to learn more.
National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
Every one in nine men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime, and that sobering statistic is the reason why awareness of the disease is so critical in our nation.
This year, the Prostate Cancer Foundation is raising awareness through a food challenge. The #EatItToBeatIt challenge is designed to show the participants the foods that are healthy to eat in order to reduce the risk of prostate cancer. To find out more about the challenge, or to donate to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, visit their website!
While these four observances are critical in the fight against cancer, expanding our programs to educate, highlight, and push forward in finding a cure are the keys to saving millions of lives.
